Hi!
Am I wrong or AmQuake doesnt show RC ring in a model? I define both RC ring and lintel but only the lintel is rendered? Why is that so? Thickness of the ceiling is 20 cm, dimension of the RC ring is b/h=25/30 cm. Am I doing something wrong or AmQuake just doesnt show RC ring but only lintel?

Hi!

I am aware that AmQuake can calculate not only masonry but also reinforced concrete walls but I am curious if AmQuake can calculate buildings which have for example 50% RC walls and 50% masonry walls? Are the results still reliable when there is so many RC walls? And is there a limit how many RC walls can I put in a model? Can I for example put 70% RC walls and 30% masonry and still get reliable results?

Atena 3.8 discussions

Hi there!

We started using the AmQuake 3.8 and we have some problems and questions.

1. When defining the second floor slab, initially it does not appear in the slab loading list, although it is rendered in the 3D view and we are able to select it. Only after closing and re-opening the program the second slab is listed in the table.

2. We are not able to add a certain mortar type. We selected various brick elements, but only the M5 mortar is listed and used. This has an important influence in the overall masonry strength, so it is quite important to be able to choose an m10 mortar, for example.

3. Is there any way to use more than one processor core during the analysis?

4. What is the main difference in using a masonry confined using columns or using discrete bars in the masonry model itself? The results are not similar, so we are just wondering about why one should choose the one or the other.

5. Is there a way to define loads on slabs only on certain areas? The case might be that a slab is not uniformly loaded on its entire surface.

6. Is there a way to introduce also the solid brick into the product list? It is also a Wienerberger product.

I am new to Amquake, I've just built my 1st model and have run all of the analyses, and have tried to make some sense of the results.

I cannot see anything relating to possible wall failure due to out-of-plane-bending, i.e. the masonry blocks "blowing out" from the wall in the direction of an earthquake.

Does anybody know how best to deal with this issue if it is not calculated within the program? Perhaps you may follow different documentation to calculate this?

Any advice from anybody would be most welcome.

I try to create a new masonry material with my resistence of brick determined on site. The program won't let me change the input values. It says on Edit Masonry menu "In this building standard code are these values read only ". I use Romanian code.
With other standard, the values are editable.
Why is this happening? In the oldest versions this never happened.
Please fix this. Not all buildings that we calculate are new. We have older building to.

Hello,
I have a question on how to insert a concrete beam. I know that for inserting a beam you use the window command. I want to know if for the beam you enter the height of the beam just under the slab, or you insert the height calculated as the height of the beam under the slab and the height of the slab.

Thank you!
